We' ve had some crazy cold weather all spring, but despite that, the fishing has been really good on our lakes north of Lake of the Woods(Kenora) on the English River system. Some nice sized pike have been landed and released. A couple of big trout (one 12 pounds) was caught and released at our Populus lake outpost. Smallmouth bass have been a little slow but they are still being caught in some of the more protected areas with dark coloured water. Pictures are coming so check out our site at http://www.gopickerel.com/pages/fishing-photos.php .None of our lakes have bass spawning as of yet on account of the cold water temperatures. Next week is supposed to warm up so hopefully with some nice weather they will start.
The lures being used have been bucktail jigs, plain lead coloured jigs and white/blue flukes with a very slow presentation.
