Me and my good friend Boober decided to try out luck at the almighty musky today on a local lake, we started off the day casting around some of the bays, Boober got a mid 30 inch fish to follow a bass spinnerbait but the fish was following slow and low, after hours of fruitless casting I asked Boober if minded if I trolled around for a while since that is how I caught all my decent sized muskies there before, he was cool with the trolling idea so I set lines and started trolling around the lake, we made a full 2 passes and on our third pass my rear rod just doubled over, I grabbed the rod and handed it over to Boober since we decided that he would take the starboard side if it went off, I picked the left (Port side) The Starboard rear rod went off and he had no clue what he was in for, he had a giant on, when we got her to the boat we realized it was big, once we got her in the net we both knew we had something very rare, it measured 47"s long and was just thick as a pig, we could not believe our eyes, the fish had scares on her sides and also her tail looked chewed up, I think she just came off spawn, it was a big fat female. I consider it a team effort since i set all the lines and drove the boat. Regardless it was a blessing from god to catch a fish of that magnitude in our back yard, this was only Boobers second musky ever, he caught his first in my boat also a few years back, that one was only a 34". Boober was really excited, I told him fish like these don't come easy and that he is very lucky, he agreed it was a fish of a lifetime. We continued to fish for 4 more hours and raised over 7 other muskies and Boober lost another smaller ski at the boat, it was an amazing day and the weather was incredible, we could not ask for a better day. Thanks fish gods for blessing us.http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h43/djbizeone/P6161067.jpg
