    Default cc bridge

Sounds like they are redoing the cc bridge from what I see on lake link. Any one know if the road is going to stay open (1 lane) or what the timeline is for it to be done? Planning on opening up our place in about 1 month. Nothing like driving 240 miles and almost being there only to have a 15 mile detour.

There was just an article in the Sawyer County Record on the CC bridge. You can probably find it online. Basically it says there is no timeline established but there will be a floating road installed while it's being worked on.

found it, I am guessing this will run into summer. Have a feeling that fisherman will not be able to go from west to east side or vice versa.

The Sawyer County Highway CC bridge over the Chippewa River channel at The Landing is due to be replaced, although the time period for the project has not been determined.
Last week, a crane, bucket loader and steel girders were moved to a parking lot next to the bridge, which is part of the only north-south road through the vast Chippewa Flowage. Highway CC divides the west and east basins of the Big Chip.
“At this point I don’t have any information on the timetable of the project,” Highway Commissioner Gary Gedart said Monday. “We have not even had a pre-construction conference yet. The equipment and other items were hauled in early because they wanted to beat the road bans.”
The delivery actually missed the road ban date by several days, but Gedart said he issued special permits for the deliveries.
Gedart noted that “the bridge has a sufficiency rating of 38.1. Any bridge that falls under a sufficiency rating of 50.0 is eligible for state/federal funds for replacement.”
Gedart said a temporary bridge will be installed prior to the removal of the existing bridge. The new bridge will be reconstructed on the same alignment as the old bridge.
The construction contract was awarded to Edward Kraemer and Sons Inc. in the amount of $1,885,007, with funds for the project to be received from the Surface Transportation Program for Bridges. The program funds 80 percent of the project, with the county responsible for a 20 percent match. These are state and federal funds and the program is administered by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
Gedart said he also is working with the Bureau of Indian Affairs-Ashland and the Lac Courte Oreilles Band on obtaining additional funding for the required local match. “The BIA program is somewhat unique in that it allows you to ‘piggy back’ on the other funding source,” he added.

The concrete on this bridge started failing a few years after it was constructed in 1985,” Gedart said. “There is one larger hole in one of the piers, but that pier is encasing pilings which are supporting the bridge.”
