2009 Season Summary and Newsletter
Dear North Shore Lodge Guests,
With great appreciation we thank you for joining us this year for your Canada fishing vacation!
Vacations seem short but the memories are forever! Some of your memories besides the great fishing and fish stories just might be……….the sight of camp as you first arrive and the beautiful Eagle Lake in the background. Other memories of awaiting the sound of the breakfast bell to start the day, the smell of bacon in the air and eating breakfast looking out over the lake. Yet another memory could be walking down to the docks and feeling the excitement, with the sound of the motor and the water hitting the bow, smelling the fresh air, and seeing natures beauty, you sit back and take it all in as you take off for a day of fishing. All this before you even catch a fish! Shore lunch…need we say more...the experience is unforgettable! We cannot forget to mention the wildlife encounters you might see to add to your memories. Then after supper with a full tummy you retreat to your cabin and sit on your deck overlooking the lake and listen to the waves hitting the shoreline rocks and the loons calling in the distance while watching the colorful sunsets. Thank you for letting North Shore Lodge be part of your memories!
Professional fisherman Spence Petros joined us again for a week of fishing and sharing his knowledge of fishing Eagle Lake with our guests. Thank you Spence for your time and expertise. It is always a pleasure to have you join us. Spence will be joining us again next year, July 10-17, 2010. This week is starting to fill up fast, so call right away if interested in joining Spence Petros!
The lake water level was at a good level all season. Not too low and not too high. The weather pattern was cool most of the season with a few warmer weeks. Eagle Lake keeps providing quantity and quality fishing thanks to the slot requirements and possession limits. It is just a matter of finding where they are feeding at different times of the season. There is more and more sizable plump smallmouth bass being caught each year.
The biggest of each species caught by our guests listed on the BIG FISH BOARD for 2009 are;
Walleye……….30”…Bill Argast on a Little Joe
30”…Jerry Kochan on a Rapala
Northern…..…43”…Phil Tabor on a Plug
43”…Robert Kipferl on an Invader
Muskie……….52”…Gene Reich Jr. on Jig
Smallmouth….22”…Andy Grod on a Panther Martin

2009 the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources changed the fishing license process, so at camp everyone was given two forms stapled together for your fishing license. The larger sheet was an outdoor application and the smaller one was your actual license. Everyone who came up fishing in 2009 will be receiving their Ontario Outdoor Card in the mail. Please keep this card and bring it back up with you when you come fishing in Ontario. This card is good for three years and each year at camp we attach a sticker that is your actual license. The Ministry of Natural Resources will send you a renewal application in the mail to you after the three years. We will send reminders in all our mailings to bring your card. If you did not come up in 2009, we’ll need your personal info as before and the above will apply following.
Reminder: Passport are required to get back into the states from Canada.
Sincerely,
Mark and Brenda
