WEEK 3
Things almost seemed to get better if that’s possible. Mountain Muskie Lodge guest, guides and clients landed another incredible number of muskies. 68 muskies in all up to 44 inches where boated. Rattle baits, Fat Belly’s, glides and small crank baits took the most casting while trollers scored fish on Tuff Shad, Depth Raiders, GT Bullet and rattle baits. Extremely hot days have warmed up our waters but it hasn’t slowed the fish just the fishermen. Fish in the upper river have seemed to spawn or are currently doing there business. Some main lake muskies are showing signs that they are stating soon. So far in week 4 our numbers are strong too just slowing a little. Try glides like Phantom, Twisted Sucker, Squirko and sledges, glides with rubber tails are starting to work, watch out boatside do a good figure 8. Trolling in 4 to 12 feet with your baits running shallow about a 2 or 3 feet below surface will get the most bites. As things warm up start looking in deeper water but keep your lures high. Blade baits are starting to work and will be the most productive once they spawn. With the water so low try super shallow running baits, the Fat Belly Rattler has account for 2 large fish the week including a fat 47.
